Monopoly World Championship trials, Nationally: from December 1st.

Parker Brothers is expecting hundreds of hopefuls to enter the 2009 Australian Monopoly Championships with the view to representing Australia in the World Titles being held in Las Vegas in October 2009.  The Monopoly Championships present a unique opportunity to almost anyone from any background to represent Australia in this world class event, In fact the only stipulation to compete is that you are 8 years of age or older.

There are 60 spots up for grabs in each state and registration will commence from 1st December, 2008, at www.monopoly.com.au (you must register online to compete). This will remain open until all spots have been filled.

The state play-offs will be held at the below locations:
NSW
– Westfield Parramatta   Saturday 10th January
QLD – Westfield Garden City   Sunday 11th January
WA – Westfield Carousel Saturday 17th January
SA – Westfield Marion Sunday 18th January
VIC – Westfield Southland Saturday 31st  January
ACT – Westfield Belconnen Sunday 1st February

Australia has held the world title only once since the international tournament commenced in 1973.  Then it was a case of life imitating art with a real estate agent, Greg Jacobs claiming the World Monopoly title for Australia in 1983.

For terms and conditions on this competition please visit the Monopoly website here (from December 1st) or call the Hasbro hotline: 1300 362 864.
