Make-up tips: Asian skin complexion
click image to enlargeRenowned make-up artist, Bobbi Brown shares her tips for Asian complexions.
Eyebrows: “Most Asian women have incredibly thick hair on their heads, but not always on their eyebrows,” says Bobbi. The easiest way to fill in sparse brows is to use an eyeshadow powder. “Drawing in the brows with a pencil needs a deft stroke, so it doesn’t look fake,” she says. Bobbi recommends a mahogany shade, even if your hair is dark. “Never use black or charcoal because it looks too heavy on the face,” she says.
Cheeks: Blush is really designed to add colour, not contour the face. “Try not to ‘paint‘ on cheekbones,” says Bobbi. Her tip is to smile in the mirror and apply a soft pink or rosy blush to the apple of the cheeks.
Eyes: The biggest mistake Asian women can make with their eyes is to try to create the illusion of an eyelid crease by over-shading the eyes. “The first rule is to keep it simple. Line your eyes all the way around with a deep colour, making the line stronger on the top than the bottom. Make sure it really shows when you open your eyes; this will make the eyes stand out. Take a medium-tone shadow and apply it to the eyelid, sweeping it three-quarters of the way up the lid. Finally, using a lighter shade, highlight under the brow bone to open the eyes a bit more,” she explains.
